Check your website’s SSL certificate
A valid TLS certificate is needed for a normal HTTPS connection. An expired or invalid certificate can cause browser warnings.
What we check
We connect to the HTTPS port and inspect certificate validity and expiry. Monitoring can send reminders at the 30, 14, 7 and 1 day thresholds.
If expiry is approaching
Check automatic renewal with your host or server administrator. Also confirm that the renewed certificate is actually served by the website. Then check the address again.
If the date is unavailable
A connection failure, firewall or invalid certificate may prevent inspection. An unknown date is not a passed check. The account and scan result show when information is unavailable.
HTTPS is not a security audit
A certificate protects the connection. It does not prove that the website’s content, login or software is secure. Maintain software updates and backups.
